Trees
There
are many types of trees used for Christmas trees.
In the Pacific Northwest, the most popular varieties
are Douglas Fir and Noble Fir, with Fraser Fir
and Norway Spruce not far behind.
Douglas
Fir trees tend to be bushy and
full and may take 8-10 years to grow to harvest
size.
Noble
Fir can be open or "cultured"
to make a more bushy tree. These take much longer
to grow, as much as 10 to 15 years before ready
for harvest.
Norway
Spruce is a bushy tree with small
needles on stiff branches. It has a more blue-green
color and is a good choice for heavier ornaments.
